Test locations for passengers departing from Canada

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has set-up a rapid testing process at our five gateways. To simplify any procedures, in Canada, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has also set up agreements with various laboratories and clinics to allow their customers to obtain rapid results. Those tests are for asymptomatic persons only. We recommend that you schedule an appointment in advance. Contact your insurance. These tests could be reimbursed.

Kindly note that the list below is provided for information only. KLM declines all responsibility for the conditions and consequences of carrying out the tests. Price, result delays and processes vary depending on the laboratory/clinic providing the service.

Compulsory vaccination for passengers departing from Canada

Since October 30, 2021, passengers 12 years of age plus 4 months, or older, need to be fully vaccinated in order to board international flights departing Canada.

Until November 29, 2021, there is a short transition period when travellers who don’t qualify as fully vaccinated will be able to travel if they can show a valid COVID-19 molecular test taken within 72 hours of travel. If you're unable to provide proof of vaccination or a valid COVID-19 test result, you will not be allowed to travel.

Until February 28, 2022, foreign nationals who don’t qualify as fully vaccinated and who normally reside outside of Canada, will be able to take a flight for the purpose of departing Canada if they arrived in Canada before October 30, 2021, and they show proof of a valid COVID-19 molecular test at the time of travel.

Passengers returning to Canada:

Government of Canada announced borders reopening for international travellers as of Sept 7.

Since July 5, 2021, there are some exemptions for people eligible to enter Canada, who also meet specific conditions for fully vaccinated travellers.

Fully vaccinated travellers who are permitted to enter Canada will not be required to stay at a government-authorized hotel and will not be subject to the federal requirement to quarantine or take a COVID-19 test on day-8. To be considered fully vaccinated, a traveller must have received the full series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to entering Canada. Travellers can receive their vaccine in any country, and must provide documentation supporting their vaccination in English, French or with a certified translation. For these new measures to apply to them, fully vaccinated travellers must still meet all other mandatory requirements, including pre-testing, be asymptomatic, have a paper or digital copy of their vaccination documentation, and provide COVID-19-related information electronically through ArriveCAN prior to arrival in Canada.

For travellers who are not fully vaccinated, there are no changes to Canada’s current border measures.

For more details, visit the Government of Canada's website.

Mandatory COVID-19 testing and negative results are required for air travellers flying to Canada from another country. All air travellers five years of age or older are required to undergo pre-departure COVID-19 PCR or RT LAMP testing before entering Canada. The PCR test needs to be taken within 72 hours (more information via TravelDoc above) prior to the traveller’s scheduled flight departure to Canada, and documentation of a negative laboratory test result must be presented to the airline prior to boarding.
